Judges' Comments
Paul White
Nice wine. Red fruits. Savoury aromas. Very smooth polished texture. Especially good texture. Lovely cherry fruits on the finish. Very good concentration and depth. Proved to be quite a bold match. The texture enveloped the pineapple and pepper relish and the acidity cleansed away the meat in the end. A very good match.
Tony Allen
Not very expressive nose versus many on the flight. In fact quite mute. Simple juicy redcurrant fruit on the palate. The grip of the wine and the acid went well with the meat and the fat within the dish and also with the salsa.
Kym Milne
A light, strawberry fresh Rosé. Bright strawberry fruit. Good ripe flavours. Some sweetness. A warm palate. A slightly hot alcoholic edge on the finish but good flavours.
Ken Dobler
Had lovely red colour with bright pink notes. The nose showed confectionary tinges with sweet fruit. The palate was somewhat sweet. A wine best enjoyed looking over the harbour and with food. The tannins were out of balance with the sweetness. There was a harmony between that sweetness tannin and the savoury character of the food and it proved to be well balanced.
Doug Frost
Showed some floral notes. A lot of strawberry, redcurrant, cranberry and some dust. More of a medium residual sugar sort of wine but very gentle. Very nice texture. The sugar made it better with the food.
Adrian Atkinson
A touch reductive on the nose. Some good texture but lacking fruit. Flavour concentration and depth on the palate. Quite hollow and almost overtly acidic on the finish. It showed simple fruit with the food, but the combination was okay.
