WILD ROCK WINE COMPANY “VIN GRIS” 2007

Highly Commended Wine

Wine label

Judges' Comments

Steve Flamstead

Interesting aromas of blanched, fresh, ripe tomatoes and cherry pop. Hints of musk. On the palate, the alcohol was pretty good. Lots of cola characters and good acidity. It’s the kind of wine that leaves you wanting a second glass. A good package overall.

John Ellis

Pale. Simple, sweet fruit nose. The palate has sweet fruit but a clean acid finish. A touch phenolic and the acidity makes this a better fit with food.

John Chua

Flavours of heavy black fruit. A lean meat palate, finishing with the acids. The food brings out the acidity of the wine.

David Bicknell

Light coppery red. Savoury almost leathery notes. Elegant and lightly proportioned. Warm on the finish. The chilli and alcohol over emphasise each other, losing balance.

Neil Hadley

A pale pink colour. The nose is lolly fresh. The palate is dry but bland. It improves only slightly with the food.

Ivan Donaldson

Dry, lacks fruit depth and vibrancy. A bit dull and firm/bitter.
