Judges' Comments
Adrian Atkinson
Nice texture on the palate and some nice fruit with some reasonable length. The wine exhibited some good balance and had a good food combination. Again a nice combination of fruit sweetness and acidity with the food.
Tony Allen
This wine sits between commercial and serious but it doesn’t really take all of the best attributes from both camps. It tasted quite alcoholic and hot with the dish.
Ken Dobler
Showed a pale pink colour with slightly tawny edges and a nose of plums and stone fruit. The palate was somewhat clumsy. It showed some residual sugar and finished quite short. After food there was an improvement in the palate, but the sweetness was still evident and out of balance with the savoury character of the food.
Doug Frost
Sort of a cedary, dusty nose with some red apple character. Probably lacking freshness, in other words red cherry. Fullish middle but it lacked freshness. The adjustment that I think was made to it, was sticking out a bit. That cherry end and the dullish fruit didn’t stand up to that dish.
Paul White
Some herbal characters on the nose. Fairly viscous. I didn’t like the finish. It was coarse and had kind of disjointed acidity. In the context of food, it went bitter, astringent and what little fruit it had, got lost in the food.
Kym Milne
A deep Rosé colour staring to brown on the edges. Some fruit. Slightly honeyed notes. Tiring a little and some slight caramel characters on the palate.
