Judges' Comments
Tony Allen
This Rosé had a serious side to it. As well as red fruits it also had some minerality. The wine tasted more overtly fruity when had with the dish but it still matched certain elements of the dish very well.
Ken Dobler
The colour showed light pink and orange. The nose was somewhat closed but the palate showed lovely red fruit with some very clean acidity. There was a very nice balance between the sweetness, the fruit and the acidity of the dish. The complementary flavours of the food and the wine seemed to increase the length of the wine providing excellent balance.
Adrian Atkinson
Copper, cherry colour. Tutti frutti nose but lacking concentration and flavour. Some smoky character on the nose which was rather off putting. The palate was clean albeit a bit dull and lacking in elegance.
Doug Frost
Red cherry with black cherry hints. Redcurrant with red cranberry skins and a little bit of dull fruit or aged fruit in the nose. Orange and redcurrant in the mouth. Soft. Residual sugar. Soft and simple as a wine. Too soft and simple for this complex dish.
Kym Milne
A light colour. Berry fruit. Clean sound wine just beginning to tire a little bit with some quite good flavours.
Paul White
A very unfocused nose. Viscous over quite a disjointed palate. The wine’s viscosity was its redeeming feature but I didn’t like the disjointed structure. Kind of a nowhere match.
